David Birge

David Birge is a Research Associate at the Center for Advanced Urbanism (CAU) at MIT. Previously, David worked as a Research Assistant at the CAU (2014/2015) where he researched emerging neighborhood scale technologies and systems. During his course work at MIT David also examined the metabolism of food flows in Boston, buffered and resilient neighborhood-scale energy systems, and collectively owned urban manufacturing-housing hybrid typologies. Prior to attending MIT David worked as a designer and project manager at OFICINAA (Germany: 2011-2013) and ECA Architects (Durham, NC: 2009-2011). David holds a Master of Science in Urban Design from MIT, a Professional Master in Architecture from North Carolina State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies from Davidson College.
