Shuqi Gao (高舒琦), is a PhD student in Department of Urban Planning at Tsinghua University, China. Currently, his research interest is focused on shrinking cities and their planning strategy. By exploring theory, causation, manifestation and planning problems on global shrinking cities, he wants to have better understanding of shrinking cities in China, an unknown and ignored issue in context of booming urbanization. Now, he is paying close attention on Northeast China, the Chinese “Rustbelt” and emerging place for shrinking cities. Through internship, he has practiced urban planning and urban design in several planning firms, as well as planning regulation and management in some local planning bureaus. Prior to Tsinghua University, he has a B.E. in Urban Planning from Tianjin University, China.
